As Ted and Geoff prepare their new team for their 2011 campaign, so some of the longer serving JDA Council Members will be standing down from it very shortly. Including most of the contributors to this blog.
So, we could go two ways, depending on public demand:
The default, if we don't get significant demand for the other option, will be to rebrand this blog, keeping these authors, and launch a new JDA Council blog, with a new URL, for the new Council.
The alternative is that the current authors simply walk away from this one, and our current readers go look for us elsewhere on the web. So this URL remains the JDA Council's.
Tell us now, if you care which we do.

Well I hope David Rotherham does not stand down. He should actually stand in the elections. Leave things as they are. P.S. This news maybe missed at the moment after reading the Farce blog this morning.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be rebranded as JDA Council and Supporter's Blog - that way you retain the solid link with the JDA, while still getting the excellent blog posts.
ReplyDeleteSend Ted and Geoff packing and keep your site going!!!
ReplyDeleteThis all sounds a bit odd. And who put Geoffrey and Ted in charge anyway?
ReplyDeleteNobody cares! JDA is a spent force - Ted & Geoff killed it off!!!
ReplyDeleteThis post is somewhat confusing.
ReplyDeleteI would just like to say that this blog has been and still is one of the best political blogs around. It doesn't pull any punches but never strays into the petty nastiness of the sort we have seen from the vile and farce blogs to name but two. I hope you will keep it going for many years.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous says 'nobody cares'but then he says that on every site except the farce blog. Well I care. This is the most sensible, even-handed blog around.
ReplyDeleteBut talking of the farce blog I must mention the truly gutter level this site has now sunk to with their post today. I'm no fan of Syvret but the use of personal e-mails, well... I just hope the police or data protection are called in.
A disappointmet really as it had started to move toward being much more balanced. Should be re-branded the Farce Farce on this lates showing.
What is important are the people who make the articles and contribute the posts. On that score as a serious political blog as opposed to sites just set up to attack and ridicule people this blog is the best around. If anyone of you leaves I will be following.
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with the Pitmans and not Ted and Geoff if that's possible.
ReplyDeleteI am quite happy to keep the authors of this blog.
ReplyDeleteWill there be a blog if it is just Council Members? Trevor Pitman posts here; we have posts on questions in the States, but Geoff Southern doesn't post much at all. In fairness, he may be too busy doing solid constituency work, but if you have a blog, you need someone to use it. Ted Vibert came alive at the election, and now has returned to a state of hibernation, as far as his blogging is concerned.
ReplyDeleteReading between the lines, there are differences of opinion within the JDA about the way forward, what should be emphasised, priorities and so on. This should be seen as part of a healthy debate.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a 'party line' to put across the JDA has a website for that. I agree with a previous poster that maybe you should just rebrand as JDA Council and Supporters and carry on the good work.
I go along with the Pitmans too and no to Ted and Geoff who should GO!
ReplyDelete"No damage done", eh Geoff?
ReplyDeleteKeep the blog as it is, get rid of Vibert and Southern.
ReplyDeleteOr does the JDA's interest in what the "public demand" only extend as far as the running of this blog and not actual politics?
In 2012 The Town Park will be opened as the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Park by Her Majesty and Sir Michael Birt.
ReplyDeleteComments?
Call it the Geoff and Ted Loony Blog.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for the traitor Southern to come clean about Hautlieu.
This is a good blog and I just wish more politicians would talk to the public like Trevor Pitman does.Him and his Mrs are the down to earth sort of people this island needs. No airs and graces just tell it how it is.
ReplyDeleteI totally support the need for unions as without them society would slip back to the economic dark ages with people being little better than slaves. Jersey's unions have also been pretty moderate and sensible over the years, something which they deserve credit for.
ReplyDeleteThat said the big advert in the JEP with a number of alternatives being put forward was at best generally flimsy in its thinking. Some aspects of it were just plain unrealistic. My real point is that I just can't believe that all of the JDAs Deputies who are normally so commonsense in their approach would sign up to support such a mish-mash. Geoff Southern, yes as he probably feels that he has to support anything linked to the unions even when its clearly hokum. But all of you guys?
